Erekat: Tenders for 1000 Units in settlements a blow to peace efforts

The Israeli government decision to offer tenders for the construction of 1000 new housing units in the Israeli settlements in occupied Jerusalem is a blow to peace efforts, Saeb Erekat, member of the Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee, said Thursday. He said that the decision “will practically and officially destroy” efforts by United State Secretary of State John Kerry to revive the Palestinian-Israeli peace process. “The Israeli government is a government of settlers, for settlers and by settlers, and all it does is a strategy to destroy efforts by Secretary Kerry and the two-state solution.”
