Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, incumbent African Union (AU) president, received on Tuesday a message from Interim Egyptian President Adly Mansour on the situation in Egypt. The message was delivered by Mansour’s envoy Ambassador Mona Omar as she met today with the Ethiopian Premier. During the meeting, Omar reviewed the recent developments in Egypt, explaining that they took place based on popular will, Egypt’s Ambassador to Addis Ababa Mohamed Edriss told state news agency MENA. Omar also underlined Cairo’s rejection of the AU Security and Peace Council’s decision to suspend Egypt’s membership of the union due to “wrong information” in relation to internal developments in the country.
