Ethiopia PM thanks Sisi for securing release of Ethiopian nationals

President Abdel Fattah al Sisi received a phone call from Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who extended thanks to the Egyptian leader over efforts exerted to release a number of Ethiopians, who were held in Libya.

Desalegn praised Egyptian authorities for safely securing the release of the Ethiopian nationals.

President Sisi stressed the common destiny of the Egyptian and Ethiopian peoples.

Sisi wished success for the Ethiopian government and people.

Desalegn commended Egypt's efforts to combat terrorism.

Egypt is not facing terrorism only on its territory in Sinai, but it is making unremitting efforts to achieve security and stability in several vital areas, particularly in the Red Sea and the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb, he said.

Desalegn voiced hope that he could visit Egypt in June to attend the summit of three economic blocs, COMESA, East African Community and SADC.

For his part, President Sisi welcomed Desalegn, stressing the importance of the summit in enhancing trade exchange between member states.

Egypt opens its door for all African leaders to cooperate and build a better and brighter future to serve the best interests of African people, Sisi said.
