The European Union called anew on the Sudanese government to immediately release political prisoners in the country.
A delegation of the European Union (EU) and Political Counselors from the EU Member States met with representatives of the National Umma Party and the defense team of Amin Mekki Medani and Farouk Abu Eissa, said a statement by the EU mission in Khartoum.
They were briefed about the legal and political aspects of the procedures against political prisoners and political parties, as well as on the recent closures of civil society organizations in Sudan.
The EU mission reiterated its commitment to the freedom of expression and political participation.
It demanded an immediate release of Medani, Abu Eissa and Farah Agar or access to due judicial process and fair trial without further delay.
