EU condemns attack against churches in Pakistan

The EU Sunday condemned the terrorist attacks on two churches in Lahore, Pakistan, this morning as another instance of violence aimed at innocent victims.
"Those responsible for the attacks must be brought to justice. It is essential that Pakistani authorities take swift action against all groups preaching hate and sowing division within society. Freedom of religion or belief is a central tenet of democratic societies," said EU High Representative Federica Mogherini in a statement.
She added that the EU stands with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and with religious minorities whose rights have to be guaranteed all over the world.
Fifteen people are reported dead and scores injured in the attack agatnst the two churches in Lahore.
