The EU High Representative Catherine Ashton has expressed her total condemnation of the "terrible and brutal attack on Yemeni soldiers, who were rehearsing for the national day parade." "She offers her sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of all of the victims of this act of terrorism," said Michael Mann, spokesman of Ashton, in a statement, made late on Monday. The statement noted that the EU is deeply concerned by all attempts to derail Yemen’s transition. All parties must abide by the undertakings set out in the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative and implementation mechanism, in good faith. The EU is fully committed to assist President Hadi, exploring all available options to ensure compliance from any individuals who persist in undermining or opposing the political transition in Yemen," it added.
