EU condemns death of US aid worker

The EU Tuesday condemned the death of American aid worker Kayla Mueller and underlined its commitment to support international efforts to fight ISIL.
"Her death is just the latest in the long and terrible series of killings perpetrated in the Syrian conflict," said EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides, in a joint statement.
"Kayla was committed to help bring relief to the victims of this conflict and we commend her humanitarian spirit, her dedication and her self-sacrifice. We must redouble global efforts to put an end to the murders and suffering caused by this conflict - this would be the best way to honour her memory and the memory of the other civilian victims whose number is too great to count," said the statement.
"The European Union remains committed to contribute to regional and international efforts to fight Da'esh and other terrorist groups which threaten regional and global stability," it added.
ISIL claimed that she had been killed by Jordanian airstrikes in Syria.
