Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt James Moran said Monday that cooperation programs between the pan-European body and Cairo increased in 2015 to cover millions of Egyptians.
Moran was speaking during a ceremony marking Europe Day Sunday night.
This is the fifth ceremony Moran has hosted in Cairo to celebrate Europe Day ever since he assumed his duties here in 2012.
This is a year full of challenges for Egypt, the Middle East and European Union, Moran said.
He talked about thousands of innocent people who fell victim to terrorism, whether in Paris, Brussels or North Sinai.
He touched upon the struggle to handle the biggest influx of displaced persons to Europe in modern history.
No one country or a regional bloc can alone handle those challenges, Moran noted, stressing the need to reach a mechanism of joint action in the fields of security, trade and investments.
