
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will meet the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini in Brussels Wednesday evening, an EU spokesperson announced here.
"It will be an opportunity to restate the EU's two-state solution with an independent, democratic, viable Palestinian state living side by side with Israel and its other neighbours," Mina Andreeva, a spokesperson for the European Commission, told journalists.
It will be an opportunity also to follow up on the subjects that were discussed between High Representative Mogherini during her very first trip to he region after taking office early in November, she noted.
"The EU is willing to play a leading role in the resumption of the negotiations on the Middle East Peace Process following on the discussions and the outcome of Quartet principals meeting in Munich on 8 February," added the spokesperson.
