The EU's political and security committee (PSE) is to meet here Tuesday afternoon to discuss the issue of European diplomatic presence in Damascus, Maja Kocijancic, a spokesperson for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, told journalists. "I hope I will have some points (to tell) after the meeting late in the afternoon," she said. Kocijancic noted that the EU Delegation in Damascus still remains open and added that "we are looking into the possibility of offering support to EU member states." Last week, France announced that it is closing its embassy in Damascus, while Spain reportedly announced today that it will also shut its embassy in the Syrian capital.
