European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini Monday underlined the necessity of securing the resumption of the UN-brokered Geneva peace talks on Syrian conflict.
After meeting the leader of the Syrian Opposition Coalition Anas al Abdah and his accompanying delegation, Mogherini said: "The Syrian delegation represents a major sector of the Syrian community."
"We are working with them to prepare the talks in Geneva and the beginning of the political transition in Damascus, while obviously our work on the humanitarian side continues," the EU official said.
"But it is important to defeat Daesh, to guarantee European security, and first of all to improve the lives of Syrian people and to guarantee that political talks in Geneva restart and have full success."
