The Tunis Court of First Instance's 8th Criminal Division decided to postpone to next October 5 the examination of the case lodged against Moncef Trabelsi, brother of deposed President's wife Leila Trabelsi, in response to the defence lawyers' requests. According to facts, an investor from a Gulf country was victim of a fraud by Moncef Trabelsi who promised him to intervene on his behalf with the deposed President to get a gas prospection permit in southern Tunisia, in return for a commission. After the fall of the Ben Ali regime, the investor returned back to Tunisia and submitted to the National Fact-Finding Commission on Corruption and Embezzlement a file proving the involvement of Moncef Trabelsi in the above-mentioned case. The Commission decided to refer the file to the Public Prosecutor who, in turn, forwarded the case to the Tunis Court of First Instance's 8th Criminal Division for examination.
