Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama on Friday announced that he will contest the country's 2014 general election, saying that he is confident that he will win.According to state-run Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, Bainimarama made the announcement while testing tracks at a new stadium in the capital of Suva on Friday afternoon.Bainimarama said he is confident that he will win and that is why he is going to contest the general election, confirming that he will form a political party to achieve this.Bainimarama, a naval officer, took power after Fiji's 2006 coup. He has pledged to hold a general election "under a truly democratic system by no later than September 2014".
