Food self-sufficiency and the development of the agricultural sector are a top priority for Pakistan's government, announced the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Reasearch, Sikandar Bosan. According to an official press release, the minister said that the government would provide all kinds of assistance to the farmers to achieve national food security. The ministry will do its best to ensure sustainable development in the agricultural sector in the country, he added. He said he would try to convey the agricultural research results to the farmers in order to promote and develop the sector, and further enhance agriculture production in Pakistan. "Progressive steps are to be taken for the development and welfare of farmers," Bosan noted, adding that "a proper mechanism is to be evolved to enhance per acre crop output by introducing new varieties of seed and modern methods of cultivation."
