Boxing icon Mike Tyson claimed he is “on the verge of death”, due to his battle with drugs and alcohol. The 47-year-old former heavy-weight champion made the confession during an emotional press conference, after making his debut as a boxing promoter. Tyson told reporters on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights (the US main boxing promoter), "I'm a bad guy sometimes. I did a lot of bad things and I want to be forgiven. I wanna change my life, I wanna live a different life now. I wanna live my sober life. I don't wanna die. I'm on the verge of dying, because I'm a vicious alcoholic”. He added, "I haven't drank or took drugs in six days, and for me that's a miracle. Tyson served a three year prison in 1999 sentence following a rape conviction, and served a three months term for assault. In 2007 he was convicted of possession of cocaine and driving under the influence.
