Former Libyan fighters storm parliament to demand medical aid

Some ex-Libyan rebels, who sustained injures during their fight against the former regime, on Tuesday afternoon stormed the parliament to demand medical aid, a source with the legislature told Xinhua. The protesters held up slogans of condemnation against the interim government, who has so far failed to deliver all the aid promised to the ex-fighters for them to receive treatment overseas, the source said. The Libyan government has signed agreements on medical assistance for them with several foreign countries, as the infrastructures in the North African country are not sufficient to treat them all. This protest is the latest of a series of demonstrations over the same issue. In February, a number of ex-fighters attacked the parliament to make the same demand and the lawmakers were forced to move their ongoing session to some other venue.
