France has, once again, stressed the importance of reaching a political solution to achieve permanent peace in Syria.
A military solution to the conflict in Syria is not an option, said Roman Nadal, the spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry, in statements on Friday night.
Nadal said the road map agreed by the world community is clear, noting that it is based on the Geneva statement and UN Security Council resolution No. 2254.
According to Nadal, the Syrian opposition is adopting a constructive stance in the current Geneva negotiations.
He urged the Syrian regime to show good intention and seriousness in the talks.
Paris calls on allies of the Syrian regime to exercise pressure on it to halt combat activities and guarantee humanitarian aid is delivered to citizens, Nadal said.
