France shocked by Boko Haram deadly attack in northeast Nigeria

France on Wednesday released a statement saying it was "shocked by news of the attack that, according to available information, took the lives of more than 150 people on Aug. 13 in Yobe State (northeastern Nigeria)."

In a press release issued by the country's foreign ministry, Paris sent condolences to the families of the victims, stressing that those responsible for the attack must be brought to justice.

"France assures Nigeria and the countries of the region of its solidarity in the fight against terrorism," the statement added.

Last week, Boko Haram insurgents killed up to 150 villagers in an assault on a village in northeastern Nigeria's Yobe state as Nigerian authorities pledged to reinforce security, mainly by recruiting an additional 10,000 police officers.
