French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will hold talks next Wednesday here with US Secretary of State John Kerry, official sources said on Friday. The talks come only days after Kerry's trip to the Middle East with US President Barack Obama and both officials will be reviewing a number of important international issues at hand. "The talks come one month after Kerry's visit here to Paris," Foreign Ministry spokesman Philippe Lalliot said, adding that the main focus would be on "Syria, Mali, the Middle East peace process and Iran." The two men will be discussing "all aspects of the Syria crisis," Lalliot indicated, and this will include a Franco-British push to lift an EU arms embargo on Syria which would allow for supplying the moderate Syrian opposition forces with sophisticated weapons, notably anti-aircraft capability.
