
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has met with Gabon Foreign Minister Nizar Bin Obaid Madani who is currently in New York to attend a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on women, peace and security, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Tuesday.
The meeting focused on Egypt's nomination for a non-permanent seat of the UNSC and Gabon's support for Egypt in the vote slated for Thursday in the UN General Assembly, the spokesman said.
Gabon will nominate for a membership of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union next year, Abu Zeid added.
He asserted the necessity of coordination between the two countries during their membership in the UNSC and PSC.
The meeting also tackled means of boosting bilateral relations, Abu Zeid concluded.
