The Spanish Ambassador to Lebanon said on Wednesday that the Arab world enjoys the full right to live in peace and liberty, citing the example of Palestine. Spanish Ambassador Juan Carlos Gafo celebrated the National Day of Spain today, October 12, inviting many foreign ambassadors, expatriates and Lebanese politicians. Everyone enjoyed the gathering which included a special buffet serving Spanish food. "Upheavals being witnessed in the region are a challenge, not to mention a historical chance for a better living," Gafo said in an address to his guests. "All existing regimes have got to realize that there is no way they could limit democracy," he added. Gafo seized this occasion to assure the Lebanese that they could depend on their friendship with Spain." General [Alberto] Asarata's heading of UNIFIL in South Lebanon is an outright proof to that," he said. He also called upon the Lebanese to further serve their country's best interest."Your future is between your hands, and Lebanon needs you."
