Palestinian government in Gaza has stated it would be pleased with the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Gaza. Following the council of ministers meeting on Wednesday, it was stated that Erdogan pursued a "noble policy" regarding Gaza, and noted that Gazan people were looking forward to hosting Erdogan. The council said it appreciated Turkey's insistence about having an apology and compensation from Israel regarding Mavi Marmara raid. We felt proud after Israel "gave in", said the council, and also warned Israeli government not to avoid fulfilling the necessities of the apology. On March 22, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologized to Turkish people during a phone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for an Israeli raid on the "Mavi Marmara" aid ship which resulted in the killing of nine Turks in May, 2010.
