Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayyani condemned on Monday the suicide bombing which left scores of casualties in the southern city of Abyan. “The despicable heinous attack constitutes a serious breach of the religious, moral and humanitarian values,” Al-Zayyani said in a press release quoted by Kuwait news agency (KUNA). “Such criminal acts against sisterly Yemen will never hinder the country’s progress towards reform and reconstruction under the leadership of President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the interim government,” the GCC chief stressed. He urged all Yemeni people to unite and join forces in the war against terrorism. He renewed the GCC support to Yemen in its efforts to restore stability and security and protect the peaceful people against the menace of terrorism. A suicide bomber blew himself up at a funeral in the city late Saturday, killing at least 45 and injuring dozens of others.
