
Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey landed at Ben Gurion Airport as part of a visit to Israel in response to an invitation of Israeli Defence Force Chief of Staff Benny Gantz. During the visit, Dempsey will meet with senior IDF officers, and will discuss the strengthening of military cooperation between the two armies and other security issues. Dempsey will also meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon. Radio Israel broadcast earlier last week that the visit mainly aims at discussing regional issues of mutual concern foremost the iranian nuclear dossier and the latet developments in both Syria and Egypt. In a related development, Dempsey is also expected in Amman in the next few days for an official visit to the Kingdom, an official source at Jordan Armed Forces Headquarters said last Wednesday. During the visit, US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff iso scheduled to meet with a number of Jordanian officials and discuss with Jordan’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Meshaal al Zabin fields of cooperation between the armed forces in both countries, ways to bolster this cooperation in all fields and regional developments, the source added.
