German, French, Polish top diplomats head to Kiev tomorrow

The Foreign Ministers of France, Germany and Poland will travel to Kiev on Thursday to assess the situation amid the ongoing crisis and bloodshed in the Ukrainian capital, the German Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. A statement by the ministry said the three ministers will attempt to find a mechanism to end the three-month long crisis there, including coordinating efforts with EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton. Foreign ministers of the 28 EU nations have been called for an emergency summit tomorrow to discuss the situation in Ukraine. Earlier, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich accused pro-European opposition leaders of trying to seize power by force after at least 26 people died and hundreds were injured in the worst violence since the former Soviet republic.
