German president to visit Japan next month

German President Christian Wulff will visit Japan on October 22nd, it was announced here on Friday. A statement from the President''s office said that the visit is seven days long and comes as part of the strong relations between the two countries. The visit, according to the statement, is also a message of support after Japan was subjected to one of the strongest earthquakes in history followed by a massive tsunami and the nuclear crisis of Fukushima. The statement said the visit comes on the occasion of the 150th year of Japan and Germany''s birth of diplomatic relations.
