Visiting German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Niebel said Saturday that his country will provide 5.14 million U.S. dollars to United Nations aid programs to help Syrian refugee children, National News Agency (NNA) reported. At a meeting with Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abou Faour, Niebel said "The aid will be provided to the United Nations aid program to help the Syrian refugees who are fleeing their war- torn country." The fund would be given to the UN Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) , the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the UN Population Fund ( UNFPA). German ambassador to Lebanon, Birgitta Maria Siefker-Eberle, stressed the importance of "helping the Syrian refugees fleeing violence in their country," hoping that they could return to their homeland to "rebuild a new Syria after the war."
