Ghana mourns Kenyan university attack

The Ghanaian government has condemned Thursday's terrorist attack which has so far claimed 148 lives in Kenya.
In a statement issued Saturday, Ghana's Minister for Communications, Edward Omane Boamah, conveyed the government's sympathies and condolences to the victims, students and staff of the Garissa University College and the government and people of Kenya.
The statement reiterated the view of President John Dramani Mahama, the Chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Authority of Heads of State and Government that Africa needs to work together to effectively deal with the raging terrorist threats.
"This is the way to end this cross-border threat, which is growing in sophistication, the citizens of Africa and the world deserve to live in peace as they go about their daily activities," said Boamah.
A day-long siege at Garissa University College Thursday killed 148 and injured 79.
According to Kenyan authorities, 587 students were evacuated from the university with the help of government troops and a total of 663 survivors left Garissa town Saturday to their respective homes.
