
Kuwait parliament speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim arrived here Saturday to participate in the 129th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Members of parliaments from around the world will elect the next IPU president and his deputies, as well as discussing a host of issues of mutual interest. Al-Ghanim visited Jordan and Turkey before coming to Geneva. Before leaving Turkey, Al-Ghanim said the IPU meeting would touch upon the eradication of weapons of mass destruction, sustainable development, role of parliaments to protect rights of children, issues of war and peace and plights of immigrants. The speaker was received at the airport by Kuwait's Abmassador to Switzerland Bader Al-Tunaib and permanent representative to the UN in Geneva Jamal Al-Ghunaim
