Gulf Air delegates recently visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reinforce the strong ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the meeting Gulf Air’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam presented the new restructuring strategy adopted by the airline to put Bahrain’s national carrier on a path towards long-term sustainability to the Acting Ambassador for Saudi Arabia in Bahrain, Mr. Reyadh Bin Sued Al-Khenini. Mr. Al Musallam emphasized the significance and importance of the Saudi market to Gulf Air throughout its long history, while expressing his sincere thanks to the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority for their long and supportive relationship. During the meeting the two senior officials also discussed ways to increase the number of flights and travelers between the two Kingdoms. "As the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia retains a longstanding importance and has been part of the airline’s history since 1950 when we first launched flights to the city of Dhahran. We also proudly have the distinction of being the first international airline to land in Riyadh in 1982 and today, we are the second largest carrier operating in Saudi Arabia – after Saudi Arabian Airways – thus catering to business, religious and tourism travel between the two Kingdoms and beyond,” commented Mr. Al Musallam. Since 1950, Gulf Air has continuously expanded its Saudi operations and strengthened its presence, connecting customers from the far corners of the Kingdom to various regional and international destinations through the airline’s vast network. As the carrier with one of the largest Middle East networks and a choice of as many as 730 flights a week to Arabian Gulf, Middle East, Asia, North Africa and European destinations, Gulf Air provides excellent onward connectivity for its Saudi passengers, offering seamless and faster connections in less than 3 hours via their efficient Bahrain Hub.
