Gunfire from the Syrian side of the border with Lebanon struck a former General Security facility in the area Monday, security sources told The Daily Star. No causalities were reported. The center is located on the outskirts of the northern border village of Abboudiyeh and was a target of heavy gunfire from machine guns, the sources said. The fire caused material damage but there were no reported casualties, the sources said. Members of General Security evacuated the center and moved to a different location at the start of the summer season. Two other areas – Hikr Janneen village and the southern sector of Al-Kabir River – were also targeted by gunfire, the sources added. It was not clear whether the source of the gunfire came from gunmen or Syrian government forces. The Daily Star
