Police in Chandler, Ariz., say the suspected gunman in a fatal shooting that stemmed from a checkout line fight at a Walmart store is claiming self-defense. Police questioned Kyle Wayne Quadlin, 25, of Chandler but did not charge him in the 4 p.m Sunday shooting death of Kriston Charles Belinte Chee, 36, the (Phoenix) Arizona Republic reported. Chandler Police spokesman Joe Favazzo said the two strangers argued, then got into a physical altercation in front of numerous other people. Favazzo said Quadlin told investigators he was "in fear for his life" and so pulled out a gun and shot Chee, then fled the store. Favazzo said a review of the store's security camera system verified Quadlin's description of the fight. "Just like what the guy said, he was not winning," Favazzo said. "It's going to come down to what the witnesses have to say." Police will turn over the results of their investigation to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office and prosecutors will determine whether charges will be filed, Favazzo said.
