Unidentified armed men have opened fire at a bus stand in the southwestern Balochistan province of Pakistan, killing at least five people, Press TV reports. Two people were also injured during the incident, which took place in Turbat town of Balochistan on Wednesday, Pakistani officials told a Press TV correspondent. Security forces cordoned off the area following the attack and transferred the wounded to a local hospital. Over 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan entered an alliance with the United States on the so-called “war against terrorism,” according to local media. Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan. Thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
