President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi sent Thursday a congratulation letter to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on granting Palestine a status of non-member observer state in the UN. The 193-member U.N. General Assembly overwhelmingly voted on Thursday to elevate the status of Palestine. The vote was 138 in favor, nine against and 41 abstaining. The great move comes on the way of the Palestinian people to realize its legitimate purposes of independence and establishing their state on their national soil with al-Quds as capital, Hadi said. He said that the international support for the Palestinian request underscores the full realization of the Palestinian people's suffering, stressing that the Israeli occupation is the last in the world. "It is a good opportunity for the world to remember that a people - of Palestine - is oppressed and it's time to be treated with justice for the peace of the Middle East and the whole world," the President said.
