
U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel phoned Egyptian Minister of Defense Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday to discuss regional security cooperation and other issues. Hagel offered Al-Sisi warm wishes for the Eid al-Adha holiday, according to a statement by Pentagon Press Secretary George Little. "They discussed the importance of the U.S.-Egyptian relationship to the national security of both countries and to the region. They also discussed the importance of regional security cooperation, particularly in the Sinai," Little pointed out. They also reaffirmed commitment to advance and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Egypt, he added.
