UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said he has seen intelligence proof that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime is preparing to use chemical weapons against the rebels. Hague gave no further details on what kind of evidence he saw but stressed it was enough to be alarmed about the Syrian regime intentions regarding the stockpile of chemical weapons it owns. “We and the US, as I said in parliament this week, have seen some evidence of that and that is why we have issued strong warnings about it. We have done so directly to the Syrian regime,” Hague told the BBC at a security conference in Bahrain on Saturday morning. American satellites and other intelligence tools recently detected increased mobility at chemical weapons storehouses. The Syrian government said last weeks it would “never, under any circumstances” use such weapons against the Syrian citizens.
