Hague, Lieberman hold talks in London on MidEast future

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman ended his two-day visit here on Wednesday, during which he held talks with his British counterpart William Hague that addressed several issues on bilateral relations and the future of the Middle East peace process. The UK Foreign Office said in a statement that the two ministers also addressed Iran's nuclear program issue and their countries' determination to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons, stressing the importance of the success of the negotiations between Tehran and the P5+1 nations in Baghdad. The statement noted that Hague informed his Israeli counterpart on the British government's concern with the deadlock that hit the peace process in the region, adding that Hague pointed out that Tel Aviv's insistency in building illegitimate settlements in the West Bank and Eastern Jerusalem would hurt its international reputation and undermine the efforts to resolve the issue according to a two-state solution. He explained that a two-state solution would cease the conflict, guarantee Israel's safety, and find a solution to the refugees' issue, noting his government's readiness to work with all sides in order to assist in accomplishing the project, with Jerusalem as a capital for both countries.
