
Leader of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Ammar al-Hakeem, stressed that elections are an important turning point, there must provide positive environment for it; stressing the importance for the people to go into free and fair elections to get a harmonic Parliament and Government. A statement issued on Wednesday, Dec. 25, by the SIIC quoted Hakeem in his meeting with Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani, saying that there is a genuine will to solve the problems between the Region and Center, regarding the issues of oil and security cooperation, pointing out that such a will has been realized during the talks between the Prime Minister and Nechirvan Barzani. For his part, Nechirvan Barzani stressed that the Region’s Government adheres to the Constitution and its text stipulating that oil and gas belong to all and that the Region’s government will not object to enacting the 2014 Budget. / End.
