Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics announced that half of the Palestinian people were refugees. Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics released a report based on statistics of the United Nations Works and Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees in Near East (UNRWA) on the 65th anniversary of the invasion of Palestinian land by Israel, also known as "Nabka (disaster) Day" by Palestinians. Approximately 5.3 million Palestinians making up 44.2 percent of the population of Palestine are refugees as of 2013, according to the report released. 59 percent of the refugees live in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, 24 percent on the Gaza strip and 17 percent in West Bank. 154,000 Palestinians were forced to leave their homes during the invasion of Israel in 1948 and this number has reached 1.4 million Palestinians on the 65th anniversary of Israel's invasion.
