Israeli forces closed early on Sunday crossings of Kerem Abu Salem and Eretz with Gaza Strip because of the Jewish Shavuot celebrations. Chairman of the products entry coordination committee in Gaza Raed Fattooh told KUNA that the Israeli forces closed Kerem Abu Salem crossing east of Rafah, south of the Strip, besides Eretz crossing because of Shavuot celebrations. The forces will re-open the crossings on Monday to allow entrance of dozens of trucks carrying goods and relief supplies to Palestinians, he said. Eretz crossing is used for people traffic between Israel and Gaza and would be re-opened tomorrow, he added. Shavuot commemorates the anniversary of the day God gave the Torah to the entire nation of Israel assembled at Mount Sinai, although the association between the giving of the Torah (Matan Torah) and Shavuot is not explicit in the Biblical text.
