
At least seven people were killed and many others were wounded in different parts of eastern Pakistani province Punjab in rain-related incidents on Thursday. At least two people were killed and many other wounded in rain related incidents in Lahore city where a woman was killed while her three children were seriously injured when the roof of their house collapsed in the village Talwandi of Pasrur district in Sialkot. Two people were killed in Gujranwala city while twelve others were wounded as the roof oh their houses caved in. Two people were killed and at least five others sustained injuries in rain related incidents in Faisalabad city of Pakistan. Over hundreds of acres of crops were destroyed and many villages came under the floodwater in eastern Pakistani province of Punjab, as the Chenab River was flooded on Thursday. The floodwater entered the various parts of Gujranwala and Wazirabad cities and all the rescue departments were put on high alert to cope with any untoward situation. Meanwhile, the Met office recorded 171mm of rain at Jail Road observatory and 133mm at the airport in Lahore city that was an addition to around 80mm of rain on last night. Sialkot city received 172mm, Sialkot Airport 135mm, Okara city 126mm, Gujranwala city 105mm, Islamabad Zero Point 88mm, Faisalabad 70mm, Bahawalpur city 31mm and Bhakkar 23mm of rains. The tributaries of the river Chenab and Ravi in eastern Pakistan are expected to remain in high to very high flood during next two days where severe flash flooding is forecasted in the tributaries and hill torrents of eastern Balochistan and D. G. Khan divisions of southwestern Pakistan during next three days. The Met office expects rains, very heavy at times, over central and southern parts the country in next 24 hours. The Flood Forecast Division (FFD) chief Riaz Khan said, "The location of the monsoon low has now changed. Now it will affect southern Punjab (D. G. Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan and Sahiwal divisions), eastern Balochistan (Kalat, Sibi, Zhob and Naseerabad divisions) and upper Sindh (Sukkur and Larkana divisions) on Thursday and Friday.
