
MP Saad el Gammal, the head of the Arab Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, has called for forming a regional coalition grouping Egypt and Arab Gulf States to confront Iran's role in Iraq.
In a statement at the House general session on Tuesday, he said it is difficult for one country to confront Iran, pointing out that terrorism, chaos and destruction only spread after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
The lawmaker lashed out at foreign interference in Iraq's affairs especially from Iran and Turkey.
He said the war in the Iraqi city of Mosul between Daesh militants and Iraq's army affected the economy of Iraq, adding that Egypt has been playing a role to boost Egyptian-Iraqi relations in various domains.
