The Kingdom’s delegation to the high-level panel of the 22nd session of the Human Rights Council, led by the Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman, met here with the UK Senior Minister of State Baroness Warsi, in the presence of the UK’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva Ambassador Karen Pierce. During the meeting, Dr. Salah lauded the solid deep-rooted Bahraini-British ties of friendship and cooperation. He informed the UK official on the latest civilisational and human rights achievements in the kingdom, citing, mainly, the positive response of the various political groups to the Royal call for resuming the National Consensus Dialogue on the political theme, noting that the dialogue table is perceived as a national action workshop and that all participants are expected to carry out their patriotic duty of reaching consensus in order to achieve more security, stability and progress to the kingdom. Dr. Salah Ali underlined that Bahrain is among the most prominent advocates and defenders of human rights issues, stressing that all state bodies and NGOs are mobilized to protect and spread the culture of human rights, as the best way to maintain the country’s pioneering position in various fields. The Minister lauded the advanced level of the on-going cooperation and coordination between the official sides in Bahrain and the UK for the sake of consolidating the institutional capacities of the Bahraini side, adding that the recent visits of British official and independent entities to the kingdom have yielded positive results and enhanced the administrative and institutional skills of the human rights workers in Bahrain. The two sides also agreed on the need to denounce violence and terrorism and put an end to attempts to incite them or justify them, calling upon all sides to assume their shared national, moral, religious and legal responsibilities and stop tricking youths into violence through encouraging them to focus on studying.
