Hungary's PM voices support to €3bn plan to Syria's neighbor

Hungary's prime minister has voiced his support to a proposal to give 3 billion euros in aid to Syria's neighbors to help stem the flow of refugees from camps there.

Viktor Orban said he would suggest this plan to the EU leaders in the coming meeting.

The plan suggests providing Syria's neighboring countries- Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey- with necessary financial aid.

Orban said the amount of aid could be increased if necessary to stem the influx of migrants from those countries.

He added that the migrants have not come to Europe fleeing from war zones and searching for safety, but to have better lives than they have in refugee camps in Syria's neighboring states, adding they wanted German or Swedish lives.

Orban suggested every EU country pay one percent extra into the EU budget while reducing other spending. He said that would generate three billion euros for aid, which could be increased "until the stream of refugees dries up."
