The Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) of the Egyptian government has dismissed as baseless news posted on a number of websites about Italy turning down credentials of a new Egyptian ambassador in Rome.
Earlier Tuesday, the IDSC contacted the Foreign Ministry for information about the incident but was informed that the news was untrue, the center said in a report.
A statement by the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry called it a rumor that held no truth.
Credentials of the new ambassador to Italy are yet to be submitted, the Foreign Ministry said.
It urged the different media outlets to please be accurate with news coverage and to verify any information from original sources before making it public.
