A senior member of Egyptian Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun (Muslim Brotherhood) party warned of attempts underway by certain elements in Egypt to overthrow the Islamic government and reverse the course of the revolution in the country."Certain people are attempting to reverse the revolution to intensify unrests and weaken Egypt's economy in a bid to overthrow the ruling system," Jamal Heshmat told FNA on Tuesday.Yet, he expressed the confidence that Egypt will pass through the present difficult juncture, and called on all Egyptians to try to this end and prefer the country's interests to their own and their parties' interests. In relevant remarks late 2012, a spokesman of Muslim Brotherhood party also warned that there are certain attempts underway by Mubarak-era elements to overthrow the Islamic government in Egypt."Egyptians want the dismissal of former (Egypt's) state prosecutor Abdul Majid Mahmoud (which is an objective of president Mursi's Constitution Declaration) and have raised this demand in their rallies," Mahmoud Ghazlan told FNA at the time."Then why are there some protests against his dismissal through the declaration, while sacking him is a popular demand," he asked.Reminding that President Mohammad Mursi is entitled to make decisions to protect the revolution, he said the Constitution Declaration will be implemented for a limited period of time and is not a permanent law."So the current events are just a plot to topple the government," he argued.Mursi's constitutional declaration which allows him to issue decisions and laws unchallenged on a temporary basis has triggered protests by his opponents, and set him on course for a showdown with Egypt's judges.
