Indian PM concedes defeat in Delhi elections

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conceded defeat on Tuesday as results showed anti-corruption campaigner Arvind Kejriwal's party set for a landslide victory.
The welfare policies, including free water and electricity supply, which will benefit 60 percent of lower middle and poor class people in the capital, helped the AAP to register the unexpected victory.
This is considered a major setback to the ruling party of prime minister which came into power in the center with mass support six months back.
This is also considered as a mandate on Modi's government which brought an economic rejuvenation but was hit by religious tension. The PM said that he talked to Kejriwal and congratulated him on the victory.
He added that he will support the new government in Delhi in its development projects. Indian Election Commission said on Tuesday evening that the AAP has secured 67 seats out of the total 70 while BJP got three and the Congress party which ruled Delhi for fifteen years, could not manage even a single seat.
Kejriwal is expected to take oath on February 14 in the Ramlila Maidan infront of his supporters. On this date last year, he resigned from the post of Chief Minister after spending just 49 days.
