Indonesian President Joko Widodo has called on all African and Asian nations to support the independence of Palestine.
Speaking at Merdeka Building, also known as Gedung Merdeka, which hosted the first Asian and African summit in 1955, Widodo said supporting the Palestinian independence comes within the goals of the 1955 conference.
The Asian-African Summit adopted a declaration on Palestine, which reaffirmed full support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to regain their right to self-determination.
The document said that leaders to the summit remained committed to the principles of self-determination as set forth in the Final Communique of the Bandung Conference in 1955, and in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.
