Internal security law invoked in more Thai areas

Thai Primer Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday night announced to expand the areas where the Internal Security Act (ISA) is invoked. The ISA will be imposed in Bangkok, the province of Nonthaburi, and some districts in provinces of Samut Prakan and Pathum Thani, Yingluck said in a televised speech. The ISA has been imposed in three districts in Bangkok since October. The move is necessary after anti-government protestors occupied government buildings, disturbed government operations and threatened national security, Yingluck said. Yingluck promised no violence in the process of regaining control in these areas. On Monday, thousands of anti-government protestors stormed 13 state offices in Bangkok to press for Yingluck to step down. Yingluck has said that she will not step down or dissolve the House of Representatives under pressure.
