International delegation briefed about State services for illegal residents

Chairman of the Central Apparatus for Illegal Residents Saleh Al-Fadhala on Wednesday briefed a visiting delegation of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) about State services to illegal residents living in the country. Al-Fadhala informed the delegation, namely the FIDH envoy, Sara Cristiani, about these services, after issuance of the Cabinet Resolution (409/2011), explaining that they enjoy the right to apply for "all documents." They can also get free education, health services and the food ration card. Moreover, he told the visitors that the illegal residents in Kuwait, namely those enlisted in the 1965 census, can apply for jobs in the public sector. Furthermore, the official presented the delegation with detailed information about CAIR's efforts for improving living conditions of this segment of Kuwait's residents. Those whose legal status has been tackled have acquired greater privileges, he said, noting the number of those, who have presented the required papers and set their records straight, has been mounting. Elaborating, he explained that this particular segment has acquired fees-free residency immediately. The married ones have been given the residency, valid for five years, according to the law article 24, in addition to the right for education and free medical care. These families, he added, are granted the privilege to be employed in the governmental departments, second after the Kuwaiti natives, in addition to various other privileges.
